Echo Jury: Michael Quinn looks ahead to the Wigan clash at the Stadium of Light

Have your say

THIS weekend’s game against Wigan will be a tough test. The Latics enjoy passing the ball and trying to play attractive football. Working on a basis of selling their best players at the end of each season is an unfortunate position for any club to be in, but Wigan have managed to maintain their Premier League status year on year.

Ivan Ramis has looked shaky at times and could be their weak link. If Fletcher can use his positioning sense, he could be provided with a few good chances.

It was a boost to see Adam Johnson get some game time on Tuesday. Hopefully he will be on the bench. I hope that Saha’s performance has earned him a place in the starting 11. Partnered beside Fletcher up front, with Sessegnon and McClean on the wings, we could cause Wigan all sorts of problems.

Titus Bramble and John O’Shea both played very well against West Ham and this weekend, against a poor Wigan attack, will hopefully provide an opportunity to start putting a good run of form together, for both their partnership and the team.

Prediction: Sunderland 2 Wigan 0.
