Echo Jury: Kieran Kirby reflects on Saturday’s impressive cup success

Have your say

A FANTASTIC, battling, gutsy and unbelievably well-organised display.

We never let Arsenal settle and really got in their faces. There were some outstanding individual displays within a great team performance.

The returning Cattermole was outstanding yet again under Martin O’Neill. Cattermole’s performance was only bettered, in my opinion, by Kieran Richardson. He is turning into a very good left-back, Oxlade-Chamberlain was totally nullified and was rarely in the game.

Our first goal came from us winning a free-kick after Gardner was fouled, having chased the Arsenal defence down. Seb’s free-kick was only cleared as far as Richardon, whose shot took a deflection and flew into the far corner.

Other than a Mignolet save from Gervinho, Arsenal rarely threatened despite having a lot of possession. Our secpnd goal came from a breakaway when Sess outpaced Arteta and played in Larsson, who hit the post and the backtracking Oxlade-Chamberlain knocked the ball over the line. Game over.

Arsenal never looked liked they had the desire or quality to break us down. Everton at Goodison in the quarters – it’s about time we put our bad run their to bed.
