WOW! Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined us going to St. James’s Park and winning 3-0. What a result!, writes Ryan Doneathy
We were incredible. This was the best 90 minutes of our season by far. Credit has to go to Di Canio for the passion and confidence he has quickly instilled into the side.
The side kept composure throughout and were fully focused on the task at hand. The 11 that started the game looked completely different to the 11 that O’Neill possessed.
Newcastle can use the excuse of having tired legs, but the simple fact is that we were better in every single area of the pitch. Di Canio got the best out of Sessegnon and Johnson, two players who have been inconsistent to date, and that proved vital.
It will be a day that will be forever remembered by our fans. Our first victory against Newcastle in five years, our first away win in 13 years, it will be remembered as one of the finest days in the club’s recent history.
What a game, what a day!
