I IMAGINE Poyet will have one eye on the Man City game when he finalises his selection for tonight’s game, writes Tony Potts.
Obviously the suspensions kick in and I expect Ki to come in for Catts and it will probably be Bardsley or Colback to cover the left-back slot.
Given Poyet’s stated intention that Colback’s best position is central midfield, then it looks like a back-four reshuffle and I would not be surprised to see Wes Brown start this one.
I also expect Mannone and possibly Giaccherini to start the game.
The dreadful league position makes it difficult for me to mount much enthusiasm for this competition right now but a win is a win and if that happens then we must be grateful.
The Saints have had a tremendous start with a superb defensive record. I can see this ending as a low-scoring draw resulting in the dreaded penalty shoot-out.
Prediction: Sunderland 1 Southampton 1
