Echo Jury: Delighted with a convincing home win for Sunderland

Have your say

THREE points – exactly what we needed!, writes Michael Quinn.

A quality all-round performance from the lads sees us move out the bottom three, hopefully for the last time this season.

It gives us a great confidence-boost in preparing for what will be a difficult game away to Manchester United at the weekend.

John O’Shea was excellent throughout. He read the game brilliantly and showed his quality throughout the contest. Until his removal, Danny Rose was again fantastic; we should move heaven and earth to sign him in the January transfer window.

It was good to see McClean notch a goal. His all-round performance was good. Fletcher’s finish also showed his class – he knew exactly what he was going to do before the ball even came to him. To have a striker like that is invaluable. He now moves onto seven goals – hopefully he can be in double figures before the new year!

Sessegnon never stopped running over the 90 minutes. His drive and desire eventually lead to a goal that he fully deserved. If he can take the boost of confidence into the game at Old Trafford, it could make all the difference.
