DUNCAN Watmore fired his way into senior contention by scoring a brace as Sunderland’s Under-21s won 2-0 at Fulham this afternoon.
The winger – who has yet to make his league bow for the first-team – struck two times before the break as the Black Cats earned all three points in the Under-21 Premier League fixture.
Watmore scored the opening goal after just five minutes as he finished off a fine counter attack.
And although Fulham fought their way back into the game before half-time, the 21-year-old doubled Sunderland’s advantage on the stroke of the break after being set up by Martin Smith.
Sunderland saw out the game in the second half at Craven Cottage against a Fulham side featuring highly-rated starlets Patrick Roberts and Moussa Dembele.
