Sunderland boss David Moyes looks unlikely to be able to call upon the services of Sebastian Larsson and Jan Kirchhoff for tomorrow’s game against Liverpool.
The duo both played – and scored – for the Under-23s on Monday night against Manchester United.
It had prompted hopes that they would be fit for the trip to Anfield tomorrow, but it seems Moyes will give them more time to recover from their injuries.
He said: “I don’t think Seb and Jan are ready, but I think they are near to returning. We need them back along with Fabio Borini .”
Moyes will need to find a midfield replacement for Paddy McNair, who is out for the rest of the season after rupturing his cruciate ligament against Hull City last week, but Steven Pienaar returns from suspension.
