Dominic Gold looks ahead to tonight’s Chelsea game

Have your say

THE 3-0 mauling at Stamford Bridge is no doubt the highlight of our season so far, and it is safe to say that even if we play half as good tonight then we should still claim all three points against an improving Chelsea side.

Up until that amazing game in November, the Blues were strolling to the title, scoring goals for fun and generally tearing teams apart. Then came their reality check and they haven’t looked the same since.

The worry is, however, that Carlo Ancelotti’s men will be out for revenge and we will need all our fight and guile to claim at least a point.

Titus and Anton will need to be on form to continue our excellent defensive record.

Up top, I am looking forward to seeing Stephane Sessegnon strut his stuff, and from what I’ve seen the Benin star looks a good acquisition. I expect him to play behind Asamoah Gyan, with Henderson, Richardson, and Elmohamady supporting, and Lee Cattermole dropping deep to snuff out Frank Lampard.

Our next seven games will determine our European destiny, and if we can emerge in April still in sixth then the dream will be almost fulfilled. No doubt tonight will be difficult, but a debut goal from new man Sess will help claim a point.

Prediction: Sunderland 1 Chelsea 1
