Jermain Defoe and Sebastian Coates both start for Sunderland today away at Chelsea as manager Sam Allardyce reverts to a 3-5-2 formation.

Coates was a major doubt through illness but he has recovered to take his place in the starting line-up, while Defoe is recalled to partner Duncan Watmore.

Jack Rodwell is also recalled and will partner Ola Toivonen and Yann M'Vila in the centre of midfield, with Lee Cattermole and Seb Larsson both still missing through injury.

There is no place in the squad for Jeremain Lens though.

Chelsea, who this week parted company with Jose Mourinho have named Guus Hiddink as the new manager until the end of the season. Steve Holland, assisted by Eddie Newton will take charge of the Blues today though.
