Cats miss out as Hammers land Diame

Have your say

Sunderland have missed out free agent Mohamed Diame, with West Ham boss Sam Allardyce today clinching the 25-year-old’s signature on a three-year deal.

Senegalese midfielder Diame, who had interested Black Cats manager Martin O’Neill, will make the move to Upton Park on July 1 after his Wigan contract expires.

Diame told the Premier League new boys’ website: “I’m very happy and very excited to have joined the club and I’m looking forward to the start of the season.

“I know the fans here get behind the team all the time and I’m looking forward to showing everybody what I can do on the pitch.”
