Have your say

I hope you all had a great Easter!

For a change I was not playing football this year, but we still had training so there was no chance of stuffing myself with Easter eggs!

Last week we had our first home game in FA Women’s Super League One against Manchester City.

I have to say a huge thank you to all of the Sunderland fans that came and supported us; we had a massive crowd of over 1,400 people.

It was a close game which unfortunately we lost one nil.

There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Hetton Centre, it was just a shame that we did not win on the night.

As a team we were all a bit disappointed not to have got something from the game, which shows how far we have come as a team.

Manchester City are a good side with a lot of internationals but we held our own and competed well.

We have had a good start to the new season and seem to have surprised a few people, but we know that it is just the beginning. We will keep working hard and doing the best we can and hopefully our hard work will continue to bring us good results.

We were delighted to have Team Northumbria Netball come along and support us against Manchester City Last week, we returned the favour by supporting them on Thursday night when they played Hertfordshire Mavericks.

We had a great time and it was brilliant to be able support other athletes in our region and show not only that #ThisGirlCan but that #NorthEastGirlsCan!

This week and next week the team and I will be visiting the Foundation of Light Girls’ holiday courses at Goals in Sunderland. We love to go along and get involved with coaching and play a bit of football!

There are still chances for girls aged 6-16 years of age to get involved this Easter, visit www.foundationoflight.co.uk for details of how to book a place!

We now have a small break in our fixtures as this week England Women take on China in a World Cup warm up game against China at Manchester City’s new Academy Stadium.

We will be back in action on Saturday 18th April against Bristol Academy, kick off 6.30pm.

We would love to get an even bigger crowd for our next game, book your tickets now at safcladies.com

See you soon!
