CRAIG Gordon has been called up to the Scotland squad for their glamour friendly with Brazil, despite seeing his Sunderland first-team involvement limited by injury.
Gordon and Black Cats team-mate Phil Bardsley have been named by Scotland boss Craig Levein for the Emirates Stadium friendly with Brazil on Sunday, March 27.
The Scotland squad will fly out to Spain’s La Manga training camp next week for a five-day bonding session prior to the clash at Arsenal.
Gordon sustained knee tendon damage on international duty prior to Scotland’s Carling Nations Cup encounter against Northern Ireland last month, and he has suffered from the problem ever since.
The 28-year-old has only been fit enough for the bench in Sunderland’s last two games after being given a programme of exercises to avoid a knee operation.
And if Gordon is not withdrawn from the Scotland squad, he is likely to stay on the bench against Brazil, with Rangers stopper Allan McGregor keeping his place between the sticks.
Sunderland full-back Bardsley is in line to win his fourth cap.
