Dick Advocaat was forced to make one change to his Sunderland side against Bournemouth - with John O’Shea ruled out through illness.

It is the only change from the Spurs defeat, as Advocaat keeps faith with the attacking quartet of Ola Toivonen, Jeremain Lens, Fabio Borini and Jermain Defoe at Dean Court.

Adam Johnson returns to the Sunderland bench, with Duncan Watmore also missing out through illness.

Advocaat said: “John O’Shea would normally play but he is ill. He is the only change.”

New signing DeAndre Yedlin, signed on deadline day on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, is also among the subs.

Eddie Howe names Glenn Murray on the Bournemouth bench, with ex-Middlesbrough midfielder Lee Tomlin handed a start.

Bournemouth: Boruc, Francis, Cook, Distin, Daniels, Ritchie, Surman, Gosling, Pugh, Tomlin, Wilson.

Subs: Federici, Smith, Bennett, O’Kane, Stanislas, Murray, Kermorgant.

Sunderland: Pantilimon, Jones, van Aanholt, Kaboul, Coates, M’Vila, Gomez, Toivonen, Lens, Borini, Defoe. No John O’Shea.

Subs: Mannone, Cattermole, Larsson, Rodwell, Johnson, Yedlin, Fletcher.

Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)
