Sunderland’s sporting director Lee Congerton is a target of German side Borussia Monchengladbach, according to reports.
Congerton has been on Wearside since March 2014 having left a similar role in Germany with SV Hamburg.
And Monchengladbach want to take him back to the Bundesliga, report the Telegraph.
They report club president Rainer Bonhof has identified Congerton as his preferred candidate to overhaul the club’s scouting and player recruitment system - with the Monchengladbach side rooted to the foot of the league after losing their opening four games this season.
German sides Schalke and Hanover have also previously been linked with a move for Congerton, who is fluent in German.
