FORMER Sunderland midfielder Bolo Zenden could end his nine-month hiatus from football by joining relegation strugglers Blackburn Rovers.
Zenden has been without a club since leaving the Stadium of Light at the end of last season after turning down a new contract offer due to frustration over a lack of first-team opportunities.
The 35-year-old had been linked with Championship outfits Nottingham Forest and Doncaster, while a trial in the SPL with Celtic failed to materialise into a deal.
But Zenden has impressed at Ewood Park during two days of training with fourth-bottom Blackburn and boss Steve Kean is considering handing the former Dutch international a contract until the end of the season.
Zenden would be eligible to feature in the Premier League due to being out-of-contract and has kept himself in good shape during his time out of the game.
Blackburn assistant manager and ex-Sunderland number two Eric Black knows Zenden well, too, and the potential contribution the former Barcelona man could offer in the relegation scrap.
