Sunderland are looking to bounce back following a defeat to Charlton Athletic.

The Black Cats lost 2-1 to Nigel Adkins’ side at the Stadium of Light with midfielder Josh Scowen nabbing a consolation goal after the visitors went two goals ahead.

The result means Sunderland are now five points adrift of second-place Peterborough United but Lee Johnson’s men do have a game in hand on Darren Ferguson’s side.

The Black Cats are also now eight points off league-leaders Hull City but have two games in hand on the Tigers plus a game to play against Grant McCann’s men.

Lee Johnson’s men return to action on Tuesday against relegation strugglers Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium – a team who have beaten Sunderland already this season.
