‘Beating Newcastle and Swansea would be a massive launchpad for Sunderland’ – fanzine editor hopes for Poyet effect

SUNDERLAND fanzine editor Martyn McFadden is hoping Poyet can make an immediate impact in Sunderland’s forthcoming run of games,

Martyn, who heads fanzine A Love Supreme, said: He said: “If we were to get a positive result at Swansea and beat Newcastle, it would be a massive launchpad for the rest of the season.

“After that, we have games coming up against the likes of Stoke and Hull, teams we need to pick up some points against. I don’t think it’s a terrible time for him to come in.

“It’s not like we are bottom at Christmas and someone has to come in knowing if he doesn’t do something quickly, he will be managing in the Championship next season. He’s got almost a full season to do it.

“After the blitzkrieg that Di Canio created towards the latter stages of his totalitarian reign, it was good to have Kevin Ball come in and steady the ship.

“He has been quite a settling influence and there was a decision to be made over whether or not to give him the job.”
