And now 91-year-old George Forster has been recognised for his unwavering support to his beloved Sunderland AFC.
You came in your dozens to congratulate George, who was this week named Championship Supporter of the Year in the 2018 Football League awards.
Speaking to the Echo, George said it was a "tremendous honour" to be recognised. He will attend the awards ceremony in London this weekend, alongside players, managers and clubs.
