Andrew Dipper gives his verdict on Sunderland’s game at Arsenal

Have your say

IT’S never really a good time to play Arsenal, but after their defeat in the cup final last week and Manchester United’s loss at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday the impetus is with Arsene Wenger’s side, and they should pick up three points tomorrow. But with Walcott, Van Persie and Fabregas all out, can Sunderland get a draw at The Emirates?

Arsenal are without their strongest players and it really could be a tricky game for them.

As Birmingham proved last Sunday in the cup final – much to my financial benefit, I might add – anything is possible in football. Well, just about anything. If Steve Bruce’s side can go into half time still level with Arsenal, then who knows how the second half will go?

But this is probably just me clutching at straws, as I fully expect a defeat tomorrow afternoon.

Steve Bruce’s side has again been disrupted by injuries and I honestly think only with a full-strength team can Sunderland truly match the top teams; and with four defeats in a row, I can’t see Sunderland avoiding a fifth against the second best team in the country.

Prediction: Arsenal 2 Sunderland 0.
