Alim Ozturk posts this message for 'beautiful club' Sunderland after release

Alim Ozturk has described his two-year spell on Wearside as a ‘pleasure and honour’ after he was among five players to be released by Sunderland.

The 27-year-old ex-Hearts centre-back was signed by Jack Ross in the summer of 2018 and he is now looking for a new club after his spell on Wearside came to an end.

Sunderland are rebuilding again ahead of a third attempt at winning promotion from League One.

Posting on Instagram, Ozturk wrote: “I want to say thanks to everyone for their support the last 2 years and wish this beautiful club @sunderlandafcofficial all the best in the future.

Alim Ozturk has left Sunderland after two years.

“It's time for a new chapter. It was a pleasure and honour for me, thanks again 👍🔴⚪”

Jack Baldwin, Duncan Watmore, Joel Lynch and Ethan Robson have also left.

Sunderland are hopeful of retaining the services of Jon McLaughlin, Chris Maguire and Tom Flanagan.
