AJ back for Cats’ Wigan clash

Adam Johnson returned to the Sunderland starting line-up for today’s Barclays Premier League clash with Wigan after passing a fitness test.

The England winger, who was sent for further scans on his thigh after a late cameo appearance as a substitute in the Capital One Cup victory at MK Dons, was the only change to the side which ran out at West Ham last week, with suspended skipper Lee Cattermole making way.

It was Johnson’s home league debut for the Black Cats.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez named 10 of the men who started last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat by Fulham, with James McArthur replacing Ben Watson.
