DICK ADVOCAAT says he decided to leave Adam Johnson out of Sunderland’s trip to Stoke after his training regime was disrupted this week.
Sunderland head coach Advocaat had indicated in his pre-match press conference that Johnson was available for selection, despite being charged with three counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 and one of grooming.
But Johnson did not travel with the rest of the Sunderland squad for the clash in the Potteries.
Afterwards, Advocaat said: “He did not train for three days so I thought it was better for him to stay home.”
When asked whether Johnson would be available for next weekend’s visit of Southampton, Advocaat replied: “Let’s see what will happen next week.”
