Adam Cain: With Sam Allardyce at the helm, Sunderland WILL stay up

Have your say

We have heard it all before, will we beat the drop? Every season is the same.

This season has started badly and the 40,000+ that go to every home game will agree.

We had a good manager of international flavour shall we say in Dick Advocat who had kept us up again.

Then he sadly departed and we had 3pts from eight games, managerless, stumped on what to do. We needed someone who was well known to the Premier League and someone who relishes a challenge.

Up came the name of Harry Redknapp, who slammed Sunderland in a video later on, then from the distance a familiar SAFC face in Sam Allardyce came into the frame.

Allardyce came and had long hard talks with the board and even his wife over wether or not to take the position.

Big Sam had decided...moment of we have the ex-West Ham manager?

Yes we do! Hoorah!

A sigh from the 40,000 plus, yes the big man was back at SAFC.

Leading into his first game he only had two to three days with some players, 13 were on international duty not ideal in fact for a first session.

The big day came. Big Sam’s first game against WBA and we were more solid at the back – great shape, great unit, had solid chances in front of goal, this was the SAFC we all know and all love!

Unfortunately the clear foul on Costel Pantilimon by Saido Berahino gave them the lead.

All in all though, I really believe that with Big Sam at the helm we will stay up and we will continue to only get better.

Allardyce knows what he wants at a club and he’s not afraid to say what he wants in order to get what he wants.
