13 realistic signing Sunderland fans would like their club to make - including Stoke City and Portsmouth men

Sunderland are preparing for a busy summer transfer window after announcing the release of seven first-team players.

The club published its retained list on Tuesday, May 25, confirming that club captain Grant Leadbitter, Max Power, Chris Maguire, Conor McLaughlin, Remi Matthews, Callum McFadzean and Josh Scowen will all depart the club when their contracts expire later next month.

Sunderland have stated they hope to retain the services of Charlie Wyke, Luke O’Nien, Aiden McGeady and Denver Hume, though there has been talk of interest from elsewhere.

Ahead of the summer transfer window, which is set to re-open on June 9, we asked Black Cats supporters on our social media platforms to name a realistic signing that Sunderland could make.

Lots of you got in touch with your suggestions, picking out players who play in several positions and may be available in the coming months.

Here are some of the responses we received.
