Of course the Black Cats’ business will depend on what division they find themselves in next season, with Lee Johnson’s side still pushing to win promotion from League One.
Still, it’s been reported by a national newspaper that Louis-Dreyfus will hand Johnson ‘a £60million war chest’ if Sunderland can reach the Championship.
The report in The Sun on Sunday claimed that budget is likely to be spread across the summer and winter transfer windows.
Following the story, we asked Sunderland supporters who they would realistically sign ahead of the new season if the club wins promotion.
Many of you replied via our Sunderland Echo SAFC Facebook and Twitter pages – with several picking out Dion Sanderson and Jordan Jones, who are on loan at the Stadium of Light.
Here are some of the names that were mentioned.

1. Jordan Jones (Rangers)
There was Championship interest in Jones before his loan move to Wearside in January. The playmaker's performances have certainly impressed Black Cats' supporters. Photo: Bryn Lennon
2. Dion Sanderson (Wolves)
Another player who is on loan at Sunderland and will have multiple suitors in the summer. It's clear, though, the Black Cats must get promoted to have a chance of re-signing Sanderson. Photo: Lewis Storey
3. Jonson Clarke-Harris (Peterborough)
The only player who has scored more League One goals than Charlie Wyke this season. The 26-year-old has found the back of the net 26 times in the third tier this campaign. Photo: Dan Mullan
4. Conor Hourihane (Aston Villa)
A player who was in Sunderland's youth team before leaving the club in 2010. The 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Aston Villa and is now on loan at Swansea. Photo: Matthew Lewis
