Skelmersdale skim over Durham

Have your say

FOLLOWING two wins when they didn’t concede a goal, Durham City leaked three to Skelmersdale United in the Evo-Stik League Division One North game at New Ferens Park, writes Malcolm Pratt.

Former Sunderland defender Dickie Ord was taking sole charge for the first time and City were the better team in the opening half.

Billy Greulich-Smith went close and Ross Wilkinson headed against the crossbar, with visiting goalkeeper Sam Ashton beaten.

Creulich-Smith twice had shots blocked and Amar Purewal was beaten to a through-ball by Ashton. Evann Graham failed to find the net from the rebound.

Right on the stroke of half-time, much against the run of play, Matt Woolwin crashed the ball into the roof of the net.

Luck was again out for Durham as Greulich-Smith rattled the post and it was the visitors who found the way to goal with a decisive second strike from Woolwin on 66 minutes.

It was all over for Durham 12 minutes later as Shaun Tuck made it three.
