They are set to face each other this coming Saturday for the right to travel to the North East in the next round – although that fixture is cast in doubt as news is awaited on how the impending lockdown will impact on non-league football.

Ryhope joint-manager Chris McCabe said: “It’s a good draw for us, it’s a home tie and we have avoided the other Northern League clubs that are still left in the draw.

“Anything can happen in the Vase; we will have to do a bit of research on them and make sure we are ready to face the side that gets through.

“We have some confidence back in the squad, we have players back and we are looking forward to the tie.”

The tie also offers Ryhope as chance to make club history as they look reach the third round for the first time.

Seaham Red Star will hit the road for the third consecutive round after being they handed an away tie at either Barnton or Bacup Borough.

Mark Collingwood’s side will travel to the North West with the aim of reaching the third round of the competition for the first time since 2015 when they suffered a 1-0 defeat against Northern League rivals Dunston UTS.

Elsewhere in the draw, the Northern League’s top two sides will meet at the Green Energy Sports Ground after leaders Hebburn Town were handed a home tie against 2015 Vase winners North Shields.

There is one other potential all-Northern League tie as Ashington will travel to Stockton Town if they can see off Charnock Richard in a rearranged tie.

Jarrow’s reward for their shock win over Northern Counties East League leaders Yorkshire Amateur is a home tie against North West Counties League promotion challengers Warrington Rylands.

Two-time finalists West Auckland Town travel to 1874 Northwich and Shildon will travel to the winners of the rearranged tie between Hallam and AFC Blackpool

Dates for all second round ties are yet to be confirmed as the Football Association continues to discuss the situation surrounding non-elite sport during the impending lockdown.
