DURHAM City left it late before clinching a 1-0 victory over Farsley FC in the Evo-Stik League Division One North game at New Ferens Park last night.
There were only a couple of minutes remaining as Amar Purewal struck. David Dowson and Andrew Stephenson had shots blocked before Purewal managed to knock the ball over the line.
City had the best of the first-half exchanges with Billy Greulich-Smith twice going close in the opening 15 minutes.
Ross Wilkinson was just off target with a header and the only chance created by the visitors came when Simeon Bambrook fired wide from a free kick.
Farsley though came more into the game in the second half. Bambrook had an effort blocked and Steve Mallory should have scored.
Dave Stead was narrowly wide as Farsley continued to pose a threat before Amar Purewal’s goal ended their hopes.
