Peterlee Sunday League: Chapman, Kennedy break Hearts to seal NSCC final spot

Two goals apiece from Lee Chapman and Mick Kennedy, plus further goals from Jonathan Roberts, Dan Gibson, Lee Elliott and Ryan Chambers, saw the New Seaham side crush Peterlee Hearts 8-1 in their semi, with Dave Kember replying.

Keeper Paul Griffiths was outstanding for Hearts.

Wingate Plough had Dean Fox (2) and Ken Jones on target to sink Peterlee Central Club 3-0. Rob Hutchinson was Central’s man of the match.

Hetton Social won 2-1 at Easington HMS Victory to seal a First Division Cup semi-final spot.

Carlton Hughes and star man Karl Powney notched, with Thomas Bott replying. James Sanders shone for Victory.

Shotton Builders Warehouse reached the third round of the Cyril Dunn Memorial Cup when a Philip Hickman goal proved to be enough for a hard-fought 1-0 win over Peterlee Catholic Club.

Catholic had Shane O’Brien sent off, while Warren French saw red for Warehouse.

Peterlee Helford United relied on Chris Freeman, Dan Reeves and Dane Wilson to beat Shotton Comrades 3-1 to reach the John & Pat McManus Memorial Cup fourth round, with Daryl Evans starring.

Sub Connor Beeston notched for Comrades, with Richard Carr star man.

In the Second Division, leaders Seaham Marlborough slipped up, going down 4-3 to Hetton Fox and Hounds in a thrilling clash.

Connor Carr (2), Michael Brunning and Jack McBeth struck for Hetton, with two-goal Ryan Martin and Sean Rollin responding. Adam Hepple starred in vain for Marlborough.

Gavin Hoggarth’s superb hat-trick and a strike from Anthony Cook enabled Murton New Hesledon to overcome Acre Rigg SC 4-2, with Scott Jackson and sub Tudor Macey replying.

Hesledon had Elliott Hughes sent off.

Doubles from Martin Mason and Karl Arkwright, plus Liam Owen’s goal, steered Peterlee Oaklands home 5-3 against Haswell Oddfellows Arms.

Mark Crinson, Arhur Dolan and Billy Nolan responded.

Horden Cricket Club made it two wins on the trot to boost their First Division survival bid, with 14 goals scored.

They saw off Wingate Grange 6-4 but remain in the bottom two. Liam Rouse and Reece Brymer both struck twice, backed by Aaron Watson and Ali Shah. Simon Hall (2), John Dale and Martin Basley kept Grange in the game.

Horden had Matthew Dunleavey red-carded.

Joe Taboun and Andrew Cook secured Easington Welfare’s 2-1 win at Trimdon Colliery Royal Albion, for whom Paul Wilkinson notched.

Graeme Blakey was Trimdon’s top performer.

Easington Southside’s promotion hopes were rocked by a 5-3 defeat at South Hetton Cricket Club.

Matt Billyard (2) and Darren Massam netted in vain as a brilliant hat-trick from Matthew Johnson, along with two goals from Graham Hall, gave the cricketers the edge. Liam Watson starred for South Hetton, with Luke Barnes top man for Southside.

In the Premier Division, John Purvis and sub Jordan Garside earned lowly Easington Lane WMC three valuable points as they defeated Seaham The George 2-0. Callum Haswell shone for Lane, with Adam Wallace best for George.

Struggling Easington CIU fought hard in losing 3-1 to leaders Dawdon Welfare Park. Rob Huntley replied to strikes from Kyle Bell, man of the match Craig Price and Robbie Bird. David Huntley stood out for CIU.
