Northern League: Proctor, Kerr fit to help Seaham Red Star's bid to end seven-match winless run

Manager Chris McCabe will select from a full squad against a West team who have won five of their last six away games in all competitions.

Luke Proctor returns after a two-month lay-off through injury and skipper Lee Kerr should start after a substitute run-out in midweek. Andy Johnston stays in the squad after being promoted from the reserve team.

West official Cliff Alderson said: “Matty Moffatt and Steven Richardson will be having fitness tests, otherwise we are at full strength. We had a good win midweek, which is good for the team and it should be a decent game.”

Washington will look to build on their important midweek win over West Allotment Celtic when they host eighth-placed Whitley Bay at Nissan.

Bay’s Colin Anderson returned from injury in midweek and came through unscathed.

Secretary Derek Breakwell said: “We’re just looking to keep winning. Interim manager Marc Nash has had two good results, so hopefully he can carry on doing what he’s doing.”

Jarrow Roofing, away to second-bottom West Allotment Celtic, are set to field Andy Hunter in goal, with Jamie Marshall and Andy Jennison both away.

Anth Myers, Kerry Hedley and Alex White are still unavailable, but young winger Tom Bailey is expected to return after missing the last couple of fixtures due to injury.

Roofing boss Richie McLoughlin said: “At the moment, every point matters, and a couple of bad results against the teams below us could see us slip right down, so we need to match Allotment’s work ethic and take the game to them from the start.”

Elsewhere, Consett host bottom club Guisborough and Bishop Auckland visit Ashington.

Easington Colliery – seventh, but only three points adrift of second place in Division Two, with games in hand – will hope to secure all three points at Brandon United.

Easington have signed Kyran Whitehead from Jarrow Roofing and Chris Bell on loan from Shildon, having been on loan all season at Ryhope CW.

Ex-Rotherham youngster Jake Fenton and alongside Aiden Goodey will feature, as well as 17-year old Liam Adamson, who came off the bench to score a 14-minute debut brace last week.

Ten players are missing, though, with Jack Stanger, Kai Willis, Shane O’Brien and Bryan Norton all out injured. Leading scorer Joe Kerridge is suspended, captain Chris Pearson is on holiday, while Ian Redman, Chris Freeman, Shaun Smith and James Atkinson all have work commitments.

Brandon United miss suspended pair Luke Thompson and Shane Todd, but Michael Searby is recalled to the squad.

Fourth-top Durham City travel to mid-table Bedlington Terriers.

City manager Ollie Hotchkiss said: “Glen Lewis is out with an injury after taking a knock last Saturday. Otherwise, we’re at full strength.”

“We are expecting a tough game. Bedlington are a talented side and if we keep putting in the same level of performance as we did last Saturday, hopefully the results will be kind to us.”

Willington entertain third-top Billingham Synthonia, who have Matthew Crust doubtful with a knee injury. Steven Huggins is hoping to be fit after being out for four weeks with a hamstring injury.

Austin Johnston is back after a one-game ban, while Liam O’Sullivan also returns.

Crook Town, just a point above the drop zone, have a full squad available for the home clash with Norton & Stockton Ancients, while Tow Law Town, just four points from safety, journey to fellow strugglers Darlington RA.

Hebburn Town miss Jason Blackburn, who starts a three-game suspension, at Ryton & Crawcrook Albion, but top scorer Channon North returns as they chase an eighth straight win.

Glen Hargrave is unavailable, so Adam Rundle is set for a first start after coming on as a substitute last weekend.

Boss Scott Oliver said: “The team deserves credit for the run which has been built on the back of clean sheets and our goalkeeper Steve Hubery has not conceded a goal in his last six games for the club.”

Bottom club Esh Winning have a tough match at leaders Team Northumbria.

Manager Tony Boakes said: “Hopefully Andrew Clarkson will be back fully fit after a fractured ankle.

“We’ve lost Jonathan Yip for the season – he’s having an operation – and Mark Fish is still unavailable due to work commitments.

“We’ve had a run of hard games, and Team North will be another tough game.”
