Durham Wildcats hope to have a crack at the FA Women’s Super League 2 Spring Series title at Aston Villa tomorrow.
They need leaders Everton, three points better off and with a superior goal difference, to lose at London Bees today though.
Durham have won five of their eight Spring Series fixtures so far and defender Caroline Dixon said: “We just want to finish the Spring Series on a high, so the aim is three points and then we’ll see what happens from there [regarding the league table].
“But the bigger picture is that this is all preparation for the WSL 2 season, starting in September.
“The girls have been really good since I came back [from injury] just before Christmas and training is really good. It’s always a challenge coming into a team that’s playing really well, so it’s made me have to work even harder to get a place, not only in the matchday squad but the starting line-up.
“I’m looking forward to the next pre-season now.”
