This is what is happening with Jack Colback at Newcastle United
Former Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback will see out his contract with Newcastle United.
Colback – who is out of contract in the summer – had been tipped for a move in this month’s transfer window.
However, the 30-year-old, left out of United's Premier League squad despite impressing Steve Bruce in pre-season, suffered a knee injury last month.
“Jack, unfortunately, hurt his knee,” said head coach Bruce. “I can’t see much happening there, because of the problem he’s got with his knee.”
Colback had hoped to revive his Newcastle career under Bruce, who managed him at Sunderland.
Speaking after playing in a Premier League Asia Trophy fixture in China last summer, Colback said: “Obviously, I knew I had a year left, but I wasn’t expecting to come back and be involved. Things can change. All I’ve got to do is apply myself and work hard for the team when selected.”
