The 22-year-old centre-half, who debuted for England in 2019, is understood to be available for loan having found games for the Blues heard to come by since the arrival of Thiago Silva.

And, according to the Northern Echo, Newcastle are keeping an eye on the defender ahead of a January move.

United have four fit central defenders, but three of those – Ciaran Clark, Federico Fernandez and Fabian Schar – are out contract in June.
