NEWCASTLE United will face Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup quarter-final four days before the first Tyne-Wear derby of the season, it has been confirmed.

United will travel to White Hart Lane on Wednesday, December 17 for a 7.45pm kick-off before facing Sunderland at St James’s Park on the Sunday.

The cup quarter-final has not been selected for live broadcast.

Newcastle reached the last eight with a superb 2-0 win at Manchester City on Wednesday, with goals from Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko handing Alan Pardew’s youthful side the victory.
