YOHAN Cabaye is NOT on Newcastle United’s shopping list – despite his likely January exit from Paris Saint-Germain.

Cabaye is reportedly available for £19m after failing to establish himself as a first-team regular at the Parc des Princes.

The midfielder left St James’s Park in 11 months ago for the same fee.

United manager Alan Pardew would love to have Cabaye back at the club.

But fifth-placed Newcastle – who travel to West Ham United in the Premier League tomorrow – won’t make a move to bring the France international back to Tyneside.

Arsenal and Manchester United, however, could bid for the 28-year-old, who scored on his final appearance for the club in last season’s 3-1 win at Upton Park.

Asked about a January move for Cabaye, Pardew said: “No, I dont think so.

“I would like to have him back – (he is) a fantastic footballer – and it is a shame he is not playing, but I think they will resolve that.”

Newcastle could still strengthen in the next transfer window, but Pardew says he has not yet held a meeting with managing director Lee Charnley, who oversaw a busy summer of incoming transfers.

“I have not had any meetings about January,” said Pardew. “We’re just watching the market.

“I think it would be unfair on the players.

“The media are starting to pick up on the transfer window coming up

“But we have a lot of games, and managers will focus on them and let staff sort through transfers and get down to realistic numbers in the market.

“We’re looking at a lot of players at the moment, lots of areas we feel might strengthen us.”

Midfielder Cheik Tiote could attack interest in January, having been the subject of a summer bid from an unnamed club.

However, Pardew – whose side have won their last six games in all competitions – wouldn’t discuss the possibility of a player leaving United in the New Year in his pre-match Press conference.

“I dont want to go a on any negative,” said Pardew. “There are not many days when I can sit her with six wins behind me! So no negatives!

“I will leave that and say the team are confident.

“I can see that through to the academy, who are top of the league. There is real confidence on the training ground.”
