NEWCASTLE United captain Fabricio Coloccini will miss the Wear-Tyne derby next month after being sent off against Everton.

The central defender was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Aaron Lennon at Goodsion Park as Newcastle trailed 2-0.

Coloccini will miss three games, with the second of those set to be the derby against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on April 5.

It leaves Newcastle with just Mike Williamson as a senior centre-half, with Steven Taylor and Paul Dummett injured.

Daryl Janmaat may be pressed into action in the middle of defence, with teenager Lubo Satka – yet to make a Premier League appearance – the only other option.
