Steve McClaren is safe in his job at Newcastle United - for now.
The club is second-bottom of the Premier League after yesterday’s 5-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
And McClaren is the bookmakers’ favourite to be the division’s next managerial casualty.
But the 54-year-old, appointed as the club’s head coach in the summer, is understood not to be in immediate danger of being sacked, despite his team’s dismal form.
McClaren ordered his players into training today in the wake of the loss at Selhurst Park.
