A QUARTET of Newcastle United players have been called up by France for their two-legged World Cup qualifying play-off.
Yohan Cabaye, Mathieu Debuchy, Moussa Sissoko and Loic Remy are in Didier Deschamps’ 23-man squad.
Ukraine stand between Deschamps’ side and a place in next summer’s finals in Brazil.
France play the first leg in Kiev on November 15 before hosting the return match in Paris four days later.
Newcastle’s contingent of French players will link up with their international colleagues after Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.
“It should not be thought that we are qualified before we are,” said Deschamps.
“Ukraine is a team that has quality. This will not be simple. We must deal with it as best we can.”
Meanwhile, United striker Shola Ameobi has been called up by Nigeria for the second leg of their play-off against Ethiopia in Lagos in November 16 in Lagos.
The Super Eagles won the first game 2-1.
Newcastle’s Papiss Cisse is in the Senegal squad for the second leg of their World Cup play-off against Ivory Coast in Casablanca.
United midfielder Cheik Tiote isn’t expected to be called up by Ivory Coast, who lead 3-1.
