The Magpies are on the verge of being taken over by a Saudi Arabian-led consortium, with the £300million deal with Sports Direct tycoon Mike Ashley in the hands of the Premier League.

And according to Italian outlet Tutto, Hellas Verona attacker Borini is a target for United as well as Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

Borini, 29, left the Stadium of Light in 2015.
