Door open for Newcastle United to complete signing of former Sunderland defender
Newcastle United have opened the door to a loan deal for the 29-year-old England international, who has been left out of Spurs' last three games under Jose Mourinho.
A permanent deal is not something United are keen to explore as they look to temporarily plug the gap left after both Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems suffered season-ending injuries, and a long-term issue with stand-in left-back Javier Manquillo.

Rose has made it clear he has no intention of leaving the London Stadium, but the prospect of falling out of the England squad ahead of the European Championships could sway that.
He told the Standard back in November: “In January, you are probably going to hear something [about my future]. I’m telling you right now that I’m not going anywhere until my contract is finished.”
Watford, who have been keen on the player in the last two windows, are thought to be prioritising other targets.

He said: “A disagreement between me and Danny? No. My relationship with my players is good and I love to work with my group.”
