PAPISS Cisse marked his return to action with a stunning goal for Newcastle United.

The striker opened the scoring against Scottish Premier League side St Mirren in Paisley.

Cisse, making his first appearance for the club since agreeing to wear a Wonga-branded jersey last week, curled a right-footed shot past David Cornell in the 20th minute.

Defender Mathieu Debuchy doubled Newcastle’s advantage seven minutes later after latching on to a through ball from Vurnon Anita.

Midfielder Dan Gosling also impressed in a lively first-half performance.

Newcastle, led by Fabricio Coloccini, couldn’t add to their advantage after the break.

Midfielder Conor Newton came off the bench to make his first appearance of the campaign.
