ADAM Campbell is determined to use his loan at Carlisle United as a springboard to a renewed challenged for first-team football at Newcastle United.
The teenage striker yesterday joined the League One club on an initial month’s loan.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has high hopes for the 18-year-old, who has enjoyed his first senior pre-season campaign.
“Hopefully, I can really push on this season,” Campbell said. “My first pre-season with the first team has been really good.”
Carlisle manager Greg Abbott added: “It is a win-win for everybody. Adam gets his chance to play real football and Alan knows he is getting looked after and getting proper game-time.
Meanwhile, Newcastle goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell has rejoined Workington Reds on loan.
The 18-year-old – who signed a new one-year deal at St James’s Park this summer – had a spell at Borough Park last season.
