Ben Dawson given new role at Newcastle United

Dawson has been helping out Steve Bruce this season, and Bruce today revealed that the club’s head of coaching, recruited from the Football Association in 2014, will stay with the senior team for the rest of the season.

"We’ve brought Ben Dawson up from the Academy, who’ll stay with us until the end of the season,” said United's head coach.

The news comes ahead of the strengthening of Bruce's backroom team with the appointment of Graeme Jones.

“I think the official view is that we’ve been given permission to speak to Graeme,” said Bruce. “Hopefully, we’ll get things sorted in the next 24 hours. With what’s gone on in the last few weeks, we’ve been a bit short. That’s when it was brought to prominence. A fresh voice, a fresh idea, is never a bad thing.”
