The Magpies head to Villa Park on Monday, November 25 looking to continue a fine run of form in the Premier League, having beaten Bournemouth, Manchester United and West Ham United in recent weeks.

Their hopes have been further boosted by the news that Villa boss Dean Smith will be without both his first and second choice goalkeepers for the encounter.

Summer signing Tom Heaton has been out since before Villa’s loss to Wolves, while his replacement Jed Steer got a calf knock in the Midlands derby defeat.

As a result Smith is expected to turn to Orjan Nyland – a 27-capped Norway international and Villa’s third choice keeper.

Speaking about his first-team chances recently, Nyland said: "It's about being ready. I think I'm a Premier League keeper."
