REMIE Streete’s hopes of first-team football away from Newcastle United have been ended by injury.
The highly-rated defender had been a candidate for a loan spell away from St James’s Park.
But Streete is sidelined with an ankle problem, and won’t be fit before the Football League’s emergency loan window closes on November 28.
United manager Alan Pardew had keen for the 19-year-old – who featured for the first team in pre-season, and made the bench for last term’s Premier League game at Arsenal – to gain valuable first-team experience.
And Streete, from South Shields, will now have to wait until the New Year for a chance to play in the Football League.
Pardew has high hopes for the centre half, a regular for Willie Donachie’s Under-21 side.
Defender Curtis Good is also sidelined. The 20-year-old – who had a spell at Bradford City last season and was keen for another loan spell – has a hamstring problem.
