Williams has not played since damaging his Achilles tendon in January’s draw with Wigan.

The Australia defender has suffered a niggle in training, though Karanka is not concerned, while Carayol is doing light work at Rockliffe after recovering from a cruciate ligament at Bournemouth in March.

“Rhys is a long-term injury and Muzzy is going very well but Rhys had a set-back this week and had to rest, but it’s nothing major,” Karanka told www.mfc.co.uk. “When you’ve been out for 10 months, one more week out doesn’t matter.”
