Wingate and Spennymoor Town Reserves join Durham Alliance League

THREE new clubs have joined the Durham Alliance League for the 2013/14 season.

Spennymoor Town Reserves, Darlington Rugby Club and Wingate were all accepted into the league at the annual meeting this week, though two clubs have resigned.

Wingate resurrect Saturday football in the town for the first time in many years, since the demise of the former Wearside League outfit.

League chief Bob Sinclair said: “All three clubs will be a tremendous addition to the Durham Alliance League. The league will start the season with 15 clubs an increase of one from last season.”

On the debit side, Washington Town and Leam Rangers resigned.

The officials of Washington Town are intending to run a team on a Sunday morning, while Leam Rangers are joining the Northern Alliance League Division Two.

Ian Stewart was appointed as fixtures and referees appointments secretary.

The new season will start on August 3.
