West End put wind up Cleator

Have your say

SUNDERLAND West End battled through a near-gale-force wind to pick up a point in last night’s Wearside League game away to Cleator Moor Celtic.

The wind made conditions extremely difficult in Cumbria, but West End will be pleased with their efforts.

Right on the stroke of half-time, a superb pass by Craig Scott found Leigh Dunn, who opened up the opportunity for Adam Telfer to fire past West End goalkeeper Lee Burrell.

Early in the second period, the Wearsiders levelled with Michael Meek driving a John Coomber cross wide of home goalkeeper Brian Miller.

H The other two Wearside League games were postponed because of waterlogged pitches, and all scheduled Northern League matches also failed to get the go-ahead.
