WEARSIDE League side Sunderland West End made Ebac Northern League First Division Jarrow Roofing fight all the way for a 3-2 win in last night’s Tyne and Wear LGV Summer Tournament match at Hebburn.

John Campbell fired Roofing into an 11th minute lead which was doubled when he converted a 15th minute penalty, awarded after he had been brought down.

West End battled back and Brad Foster cut the deficit with a tremendous shot but by the 27th minute Jarrow were again two goals ahead, courtesy of Dan Kirkup with a back post header.

Four goals were scored in the opening half hour but it wasn’t until 12 minutes from time that Foster threw the Wearsiders a lifeline as he headed home a left wing cross.

Sunderland RCA were involved in a goalless draw with Hebburn Town, also in the LGV Tournament.

A Spennymoor Town XI shared six goals at Billingham Town with strikes from Ross Morrow (2) and Ross Hunter. Joel Callender, with a brace, and Jake Marron replied for the Teessiders who were relegated to the Second Division of the ENL last season.
