West End have chance to get back on track

FOLLOWING the disappointment of conceding a late equaliser to Hartlepool on Saturday, Sunderland West End aim to bounce back and close the gap on third-placed Jarrow when they line up at Coxhoe Athletic in the Wearside League tonight.

Manager Gary Gettings is awaiting news on the availability of several players after seven were ruled out at Hartlepool but definitely missing are Ross Kennedy and Lloyd Conlin. Gavin Dorwood, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury, could return.

Silksworth Rangers hope to avenge a recent 4-0 defeat when they meet Redcar Athletic in the return fixture at Silksworth. “It was Mark McGinley’s second game in charge and he said then that the result and performance was a reality check.

“I think Redcar will find us a different proposition tonight,” claimed chairman David Steele.

McGinley’s squad is strengthened with the inclusion of Michael McVay, Michael Renshaw and Danny Fagan but neither Rob Hall nor Liam Hodgson, who was injured on his debut, can play.

Leaders Willington host Boldon CA minus Steve Howe and Andrew Richardson but Adam Pinkney and Gary Ayres return to the squad.

Seaton Carew’s chances in the local derby at Hartlepool are boosted with the inclusion of David Wilson, Dale Campion, Neil Fannan and Rob Hammond, who all missed Saturday’s game.
